The sofa of Lady Thelma Furness on which Edward Prince of Wales first became acquainted with Wallis Simpson, for a relationship that would change the monarchy, is to be sold by JP Humbert Auctioneers in their May 2014 sale. "The seeds of one of the 20th century's greatest love affairs that would trigger a constitutional crisis were sown on this pink sofa in a hunting lodge in Leicestershire back in 1931" said Jonathan Humbert. An important and intimate piece of restored British Royal History, with excellent provenance that could fetch in excess of £3000.

New free valuation service to launch in the Cotswolds
The 9th of February 2012 sees J.P. Humbert Auctioneers Ltd launch another free valuation day, this time in Stow-on-the-Wold, Glos, in the heart of the Cotswolds. Valuations will be held at The Preston Room in the upstairs lounge of Huffkins Tea Rooms on The Square on the same day as the Farmers Market.
There is no charge although donations to the Oxford based children and young adults hospice Helen & Douglas House will be welcomed.
